Treatment of Tannery Effluent Using Combined Electrocoagulation and Adsorbent of Powdered Marble

This paper discusses the ability to remove chromium and COD from a real chrome tanning wastewater by use of Electrocoagulation (EC) coupled with adsorption using Powdered Marble (PM) added batch stirred EC cell pair duralumin electrodes. The effects current density, adsorbent dose contact time were studied. In comparison conventional process, coupling electrocoagulation powdered marble showed that addition an appropriate improved removal Cr(III) lower densities short time. Nearly 99% removed effluent initial concentration 3.21 g/L 3.75 g/L. results obtained better performance combined compared simple EC.
